Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins (Book Review)

Hey guys! So I just finished the book "Anna and the French Kiss" by Stephanie Perkins, and I think I may be in love. All jokes aside, I LOVED IT and, just following my usual protocol, had to jump onto Goodreads and post a review while to book is still fresh in my mind. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

If it was possible to be in love with a book, that would be the perfect description of my feelings.

Anna and the French Kiss (Anna and the French Kiss, #1)The characters: The characters in this book (although personally, not necessarily relatable) were funny, sarcastic and were basically the kind of people I would love to hang out. I will admit, the very first time I heard about this book over a year and a half ago, I didn't even give it a second thought. The cover looked cheesy and (I'm not going to lie) pretty unappealing to me. The characters seemed like they would be boring and dull. From the first chapter, I really liked Anna, Meredith, Josh, Rashmi, but from the first time he introduced himself as Etienne, I fell in love with St. Clair. I mean, talk about a perfect fictional boy, with his soft hair, and brown eyes and that British accent. I felt like I was going on a journey with Anna, and I loved the character development, and the way her opinion changed about SOAP throughout the novel.

This was also the first Stephanie Perkins book I've read and I really, really, really like her writing. I find that with a lot of authors these days, I like their books in general, but I find my mind wanders away from the book at least once while I read. I kid you not, I was hooked on this book from start to finish. The scenes with Anna and St. Clair, where we were waiting on edge for something to happen between them was absolutely mind-numbing. In a good way, of course.

Overall, Anna and the French Kiss was definitely one the best books I've read this year (so far). It may possibly even be my favourite YA Romance I've read this year , and is definitely up among my favourite YA Romances of all time. Stephanie, I can't wait until I pick up Lola and the Boy Next Door, hopefully sometime soon (my list is super long). If I'm being completely honest here, my only legitimate problem with this book is that everytime I read St. Clair's lines, I'd have to make the voice in my head sound British, and of course, manly. No, not manly. Boyish. Stephanie Perkins is the kind of writer I want to be. The kind of novelist who can write a story with ups and downs and still have all of those ups, and all of those downs make the story increasingly more interesting.

Before reading this, I still hadn't really found a book that kind of lifted my spirits, and I'm glad to announce that I really think this book could possibly be exactly that.

“For the two of us, home isn't a place. It is a person. And we are finally home.”

Thank you for reading, and I hope you enjoyed! Sarah
