Bloggers Anonymous: I'm Obsessed With Pillows
I love pillows.
Throw pillows.
Way too, too, too much.
This ad basically summarizes my future if I don't pull it together. (PS, I'm not sponsored by Ziploc, although they really should get on it, I would've played that girl perfectly ;))
Do you see my dilemma?
Anyway, I recently made three more throw pillows so I've decided to actually make them worth something and post some stuff about them on the interweb.
Enjoy :)
Pillow #1: THE DONUT
I have no explanation for this pillow. Zilch. But come on, donuts are pretty freaking adorable so...yeah.
How I Made It
I cut two circles of a crème coloured fabric (for the dough) and cut an additional hole in the centre of each scrap of fabric. Then I cut two circles of a pink fabric (for the icing, I used one for each side) and again cut an additional hole in the centre of each piece of fabric. Then using a variety of coloured sequins I sew them onto the pink fabric (for sprinkles). You can also use long beads. Then I sewed the pink fabric to the crème fabric, lining up the internal holes. Then I sewed the two crème coloured scraps of fabric together (inside out) and flipped it through the centre hole. Finally I stuffed the pillow and sewed the centre hole together. I still wish this was edible...
PILLOW #2: THE REALLY CUTE QUOTE GINGHAM-ESQUE PILLOW
FIRST A QUICK DISCLAIMER: THE BEAUTIFUL DESIGN ON THE PILLOW DOES NOT BELONG TO ME, IT BELONGS TO/ WAS CREATED BY CAT COQUILLETTE AND/OR SOCIETY 6. Cat is an amazing artist and you can check out her stuff by clicking here or really just searching up her name. I would've bought the pillow however I'm broke and I couldn't convince my parents to buy me, well another pillow. Nonetheless, I loved Cat's work and I really couldn't resist making this pillow.
HOW I MADE IT
I grabbed some old gingham fabric that I stole from my mom a few years ago, and cut two huge squares of it. Then I realized it was waaaay to big for the actual design and I cut it down until I thought the size was good then I sewed three of the four sides. Next I found the design (you can click here for it). I slightly edited the colour to make it slightly brighter because I know from previous experience that often times my transfer paper can make the image look more dull than it really is. I then printed it on transfer paper (for dark fabrics). Next I trimmed it down (as you can see mine is an ovular shape, so that was kind of necessary), and then ironed it onto my fabric. Finally, I stuffed the pillow and finished sewing and I was done :)
PILLOW #3 GEOMETRIC TRIANGLE PILLOW
This one doesn't have much thought behind. I felt like marathoning a bunch of movies that I haven't seen in a while and to make it seem like I was being, well, productive, I decided I should add to my pillow collection.
HOW I MADE IT
The actual pillow case was made a while ago. At the time I hadn't wanted to go near a needle let alone use one, so I had actually just hot-glued three of the sides together and then flipped it inside out. For the painting part, I basically just started at the top and freehanded a bunch of triangles making sure to overlap the bottom of each triangle with the top of the one below it. As you can see I used same colour scheme in the first and third column, as well as in the second and fourth column, but I think this would look good if you chose a different colour scheme for each column too. Once it was dry, I stuffed it and sewed the remaining side closed. NOTE: If you have the time, use tape to make the sides of the triangles as clean as possible. I couldn't have been bothered, but it would definitely make the pillow look more professional.
That's it (for now). Any tips for a pillowholic? (I hate that word...)
